Does Binocular store my Bigtable data?
No. Binocular connects directly to your Bigtable instance via the gcloud CLI. It never transmits your data to any external server.
How is Binocular different from Bigtable Studio?
Bigtable studio offers a good set of functionality, but falls short when it comes to user experience and developer experience. Another drawback is that it's web-based, which, as good as webbrowers are, still limits the set of features you can build. Binocular does not have these constraints, and was built with user experience and especially developer experience in mind.
How is Binocular different from DBeaver?
DBeaver is tough to beat. It's a great, solid app. But while DBeaver is essentially a general-purpose tool, Binocular is actually the opposite: custom made to make interacting with Bigtable easier.
Did you use AI to build Binocular?
Of course. This is a passion project, but I also treasure time off, which means taking shortcuts where it's sensible. Nevertheless, because I take pride in my work and because I still love the craft, I designed everything myself and reviewed every single line of code.
Does Binocular work on Windows or Linux?
Currently, the app is only available for macOS. We don't have a Windows or Linux version yet.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan includes a free 14-day trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to get started.
How much does Binocular cost?
The app is available at 7.99€/month or 59.99€/year. Both plans include the same full feature set.
